(Left to right) [1] Lake Illawarra is famed for its placid bird life with Hooka Point no exception. In the background lies the equally famous large bird sanctuary of Gooseberry Island. [2 & 3] The tree is long since passed away but the expansive and well maintained recreational grounds keep going from strength to strength. [4] The LIA-constructed observation tower affords excellent views across the north-western sections of the lake. Kurry Burry Bay along with Gooseberry and Hooka islands are highlights.

(Left to right) [1] A community artwork created by a group of local artisans at the Hooka Park 'Place of Healing'. The stone interprets a 'chain of life', which is also etched into the waterside boardwalk running up to a viewing hut tagged a 'place of reflection'. Perfect for fishing, walking, riding... or just relaxing. [3] A picnic shelter constructed by the LIA - bring down the kids, their fishing gear, kites and respective footballs for an excellent day or night out. [4] It's not hard to see why the Lake Illawarra wildlife likes to sun itself on the shores of the Illawarra.

(Left to right) [1] The circa 1.5 kilometre scenic walk, well trodden by myriad users throughout the year. [2] Lake Illawarra is a classic example of how residential development can suitably live alongside natural resources, but only if those around the waterways are aware of the fragility and value of their natural assets. [3] The waters of Lake Illawarra remain clean, and serene when the wind isn't blowing too strongly of course. [4] The Hooka Bay wetlands with farmland and cattle in the distance.
