LAKE ILLAWARRA
AUTHORITY
NOMINATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP
The Lake Illawarra
Authority was established in 1988 to transform the degraded waters and
foreshores of Lake Illawarra into an attractive recreational and tourist
resource with restored and sustainable ecological values.
The Authority has the
task of planning for and carrying out works within the lake area that
achieve the above objective.
Under the Lake Illawarra
Authority Act (1987), the Authority consists of ten part time members. Of
the members there is one representative each from Wollongong and
Shellharbour City Councils, one representative from NSW Department of
Primary Industries (Fisheries), one representative from the Southern
Rivers Catchment Management Authority and five community members. One of
the community members will be appointed Chairperson.
Members are appointed by
the Minister for Climate Change Environment and Water.
Membership is for a term
not exceeding two years and newly appointed members will cover the period
September 2007 to August 2009.
Individuals interested
in nominating for a community position on the Authority are invited to
submit a brief written application detailing their interests, skills and
vision for the lake to:
